A simple overview on using some basic 1024×1024 texture files to create some materials inside of Unreal Engine 4. Using PBR concepts inside of UE4, we can reuse the same texture files to create a variety of different looking materials for different uses throughout our environment to save resources. This is all done by connecting nodes inside the built in material editor in Unreal Engine 4.
In the next UE4 video, we’ll cover how to hookup multiple different textures inside the material editor, all with containing multiple channels such as color and normal maps, that can be used to paint custom terrain objects.
